Being an immigrant or foreigner during several stages of my life has taught me to rely on my identity as a child of God, no matter where I live. This knowledge gives stability and purpose to my life. Familiarity with change has also given me the ability to understand how students from different countries and cultures may be experiencing a move to our college campus. The ability to converse in several different languages enlarges my worldview and enhances my appreciation of cultural and linguistic diversity.
My duties as Coordinator of Academic Services for Minority and International Students (CASMIS) allow me to welcome and encourage as well as advocate for international students as they begin and complete their college studies. As an associate adjunct faculty member of the Department of Language Studies, it is my pleasure to present courses in English for Academic Purposed to qualifying students.
In addition to my work at Dordt, I have organized and taught for two intensive English language institutes.
