Luke Hawley

Dean for Arts & Humanities/Professor of English

Luke Hawley serves as Dean for the Arts and Humanities. He provides leadership for the people and programs in Arts and Humanities, including:

  • Art and Design
  • Communication
  • English
  • History
  • Language Studies
  • Music
  • Philosophy
  • Theatre Arts
  • Theology

He also leads the effort to promote curricular / cocurricular connections so that Dordt’s holistic approach to student learning continues to benefit from strong collaboration between academic programs and cocurricular areas such as the Academic Enrichment Center, the arts, athletics, and campus ministries.

Hawley has taught English at Dordt since January 2013. He is the author of The Northwoods Hymnal (River Otter Press), which won a Nebraska Book Award. Hawley is also a member of a band called the Ruralists.
