Tutorial Adjunct - Music Department, Assistant Adjunct - Music Department

Anna Vorhes, harp; bachelor's degree from Macalester College, master's degree from University of Arizona at Tucson;

Teaching and performing harp has been my passion for many years. As a performer I've been a soloist and an ensemble harpist. I have toured for the South Dakota Arts Council in the past. I still do solo performances of various types, including recital, program and background settings. Playing for worship services is a particularly special part of my performances. My ensemble work has included twenty-seven years as principal harpist with the Sioux City Symphony (retired now) and co-principal harpist with the SD Symphony and appearances with many area orchestras, bands and choirs.

My students have included people who are currently working as professional harpists and people who play for their own enjoyment. My goal is to help students reach their own goals playing the harp. I can work with the standard classical harp repertoire, with pops and jazz music, with learning music appropriate for worship settings, and with Celtic and other lever harp styles. Dordt owns a beautiful concert harp for the use of students.
