Calvin Seerveld is emeritus professor of philosophical aesthetics at the graduate Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto. Older Testament studies is a hobby for him. His translation and explanation of the Song of Songs, presented as a chorus of voices, is in book form (second edition, 1988) and on video (2001). A number of Scripture translations and mediations, with study notes, is in print, Take Hold of God and Pull (1999).
He is husband to Inès Cecile Naudin ten Cate, who speaks several languages, is very patient, and is a resourceful woman in geography and history. They live in Toronto. Seerveld ran distance track at school and college, and as an undergraduate philosophy professor won a brown belt in judo ("the gentle art").
