Nathan Tintle, Ph.D.
Dordt's resident grant writing expert and professor of statistics, Dr. Tintle is an authority on statistical genetics and biostatistics, actuarial science, and data science as well as the development of novel curricular materials and pedagogical strategies in undergraduate statistics education. Additionally, Dr. Tintle has mentored 96 students in intensive summer research experiences in biostatistics. He has also authored or co-authored 30 grants since 2006, totaling over 7 million.
Jeff Taylor, Ph.D.
Political Science and Analysis
Dr. Taylor is a specialist in political thought and American political history including, American ideology, presidential elections, U.S. third parties, midwestern populism, social reform movements and religion and state. His scholary work includes three books: Where Did the Party Go?: William Jennings Bryan, Hubert Humphrey, and the Jeffersonian Legacy; Politics on a Human Scale: The American Tradition of Decentralism; and The Political World of Bob Dylan: Freedom and Justice, Power and Sin.
Tara Boer, MSWSocial Work, Family Crisis
Tara Boer is a licensed independent social worker with a wealth of experience in mental health and abuse treatment, geriatric medical social work, sexual assault treatment programs, and child weldfare programs. She is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dave Mulder, Ed.D.
A passionate educator with experience teaching in K-12 schools before joining Dordt's education department, Dr. Mulder's specialties include educational technology and online learning.
Channon Visscher, Ph.D.
Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Sciences
Dr. Visscher is an authority on general chemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, astronomy, and the planetary sciences.
Teresa ter haar, PH.D.Theatre Arts
Dr. Ter Haar is department chair of the Theatre Arts department and specializes in theatre pedagogy and performance, educational theatre, and theatre history.
Rob De Haan, Ph.D.
Member of the faculty senate and chair of the environmental studies department, Dr. Haan is an expert in biology, ecology, avian biology, genetics, wildlife ecology, and agro-ecology and community development.
Mark Christians, Ph.D.
Dr. Christians was a school counselor before coming to Dordt to be the Director of Personal Counseling and is now a faculty member in the psychology department. He leads a workshop called "Boundaries of Parenthood: Saying 'YES' and 'NO' in Love," and he specializes in biblical themes for parenting as well as communicating and setting clear boundaries.
Gary De Vries
Gary De Vries specializes in agriculture education and leadership, including programs such as FFA (Future Farmers of America).
Tony Jelsma, Ph.D.
With a Ph.D in cancer research, Dr. Jelsma is the chair of the biology department. He also specializes in molecular biology, developmental biology, and the creation-evolution debate.
