 #### Purpose of the Institutional Review Board:

- Promote and support professional ethical standards across a range of disciplines through review of planned research.
- Promote the dignity and protection of research participants.

#### Submitting a Proposal

To submit a proposal, please follow the [instructions for research review](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/IRB_Instructions_for_Research_Review_Feb_2026.pdf):

1. Review the [Summary of Research Review](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/summaryofresearchreview.pdf) to determine if your study is exempt, Expedited, or Full Review.
2. If your study is Exempt, please attach the [Exempt Review Request form](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/IRB-templates/Exempt-Review-Request.docx).
3. Complete proposal [submission document](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/IRB_Proposal_Submission_Fillable_Form.dotx).
4. Draft [consent Form Template](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/Informed_Consent_template__2.dotx).
5. View [HIPAA Authorization for Research](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/2022-23/Dordt-HIPAA-Checklist.pdf).
6. Complete the [online research proposal form](https://www.dordt.edu/about-dordt/offices-and-services/academic-centers/kielstra-center-research-and-grants/institutional-review-board/online-research-proposal-form).
7. Complete [CITI Training Instructions](https://www.dordt.edu/general-uploads/citi_training_instructions.pdf) if needed. Current CITI training is required for all human subjects researchers.

*Please note that Fall 2025 IRB deadlines are as follows: September 24, October 15, and November 5 at 11:59 p.m. CST.*
