Music Lessons:
Individual Lessons: $200/semester
Group Lessons: $100/semester

Music majors who have passed Music 204 and music minors who have completed four semesters of lessons will pay half the regular fees for individual lessons. Half fees do not apply to group lessons or piano proficiency lessons.

Books
Students must purchase books directly from the bookstore using personal funds. The cost of books ranges from $300-$700 per semester. For your convenience, the bookstore will accept cash, checks (U.S. or Canadian), money orders, Visa or MasterCard credit cards. The bookstore does not extend credit, and the costs of books may not be added to a student's tuition account.

How is the amount due calculated?

The amount due on the account statement is calculated by subtracting financial aid (excluding workstudy*) from the total charges. The balance on the account to be met by financial aid but not received by the Business Office will accrue interest until the money is received (e.g. outside scholarships). The Payment Calculator will assist you in determining the amount you will owe.

*Work-study earnings are paid by check once a month as hours are worked. Students have the option of applying their paychecks to the unpaid balance on their accounts, or cashing the check to meet personal expenses.

When will I be billed?

First Semester: A preliminary statement is sent to each student approximately August 1. Students can also view their account online by going to My DENIS and entering their Dordt College username and password.

Second Semester: Statements are not sent out as most information is similar to first semester. Students are encouraged to view their account online after January 2.

Note to students: It is important to understand that as the student you are responsible for coordinating payment of your account. This means it is your responsibility to:

  • File all necessary paperwork for financial aid in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with your parents or other responsible party if they will be paying for your account.
  • Contact the Business Office if you are having difficulty paying your bill.
What are my options for payment of the balance?

Three options are available for payment of account:

  1. Pay in full on or before the first day of the semester. This option avoids any payment plan charges or interest charges. Payments can be made on registration day (Tuesday, August 27, 2008 for first semester and Tuesday, January 13, 2009 for second semester). Payments can also be mailed prior to registration day to:

    Student Accounts
    Dordt College Business Office
    498 4th Avenue NE
    Sioux Center, IA, 51250

  2. Monthly payment plan. For a $25.00 per-semester and non-refundable enrollment fee, payment for the semester can be made in four installments. To enroll in this plan, a completed application form and the $25.00 enrollment fee* must be received in the Business Office by August 21, 2008. Amounts budgeted in the payment plan will not be subject to finance charges. A separate statement will be sent for those enrolling in this plan with the three subsequent payments due October 1, November 1, and December 1. Second semester payments are due January 9 (estimate first payment), February 1, March 1, and April 1. Electronic Funds Transfer is available for those using the payment plan. If you desire this service, print and complete the EFT Authorization Form or contact the Business Office.

    * for first semester or $50.00 for both semesters

  3. Pay throughout the semester at your convenience. Accounts not paid in full by registration day will accrue interest (9% annual rate) on the unpaid balance until paid in full. Final payment must be received in the Business Office by November 28, 2008 (first semester) and April 10, 2009 (second semester).

Charges for the current semester must be paid in full prior to registration for the following semester. A hold will be placed on accounts not paid in full by November 28, 2008 (first semester) or April 10, 2009 (second semester). This hold prevents a student from registering for the next semester's classes, receiving transcripts, or a diploma.

*The Canadian Exchange Rate is determined the first of each month and can be viewed online at http://www.dordt.edu/offices/business or by contacting the Business Office at (712) 722-6013.
