- CRC Sea-To-Sea Bicycle Ride: The goal of this denominational event is to heighten awareness about and raise funds to alleviate poverty. Of the nearly 200 riders that have signed up, those who will ride from coast to coast have pledged to raise $10,000 each to help end the cycle of poverty. Those who ride three-week portions will raise $4000 each. All expenses for the no-frills ride are being underwritten by corporate donations. For more information on the event, click here.
The cyclists will stop at Dordt College on the evening of Tuesday, August 5 for a celebrative worship service to which everyone in the area is invited.
Two Dordt College employees are participating in the trip, so watch for them if the ride comes through your community. Director of the Annual Fund Barb Mellema will ride from Seattle to Jersey City, and hopes to meet many Dordt alumni and supporters along the way. Director of Library Services Sheryl Taylor will ride from Denver to Grand Rapids. In addition to raising $14,000 to fight poverty, they plan to wear the name of Dordt College across the country. The official jersey is shown below. If you would like to purchase one for yourself in association with the Sea-to-Sea event or for general use, please contact Barb Mellema.
