Macintosh Webcast Instructions
Note: These instructions are for Macintosh computers running Mac OS X that have a high speed internet connection. Older versions are supported, but will require different software.
In order to view or listen to Dordt's webcast on a Mac, you will need to install one of the following programs:
Windows Media Component for Quicktime: This component allows your Mac to play audio and video streams from Windows Media Player through Quicktime Player as if it were a Quicktime stream.
Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X: This installs Windows Media Player 9 on your Mac. You will use Windows Media Player to play the webcast.
- Access the Windows Media Component for Quicktime website and download the file.
- After the file has downloaded, double-click the .mpkg installer file and follow the instructions to install the component.
- After installing the component, access the webcast test page and click on the "video" link. If the file successfully plays you are ready to view the webcast.
- This option requires that Stuffit Expander be installed on your computer. All Mac versions come pre-loaded with this software up to but not including Mac OS 10.4. If your computer does not have Stuffit Expander, please download it here.
Alternately, you could use The Unarchiver, which can be downloaded at apple.com/downloads
- Download Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X from the Windows Media Website.
- After the file downloads, double-click it. Stuffit Expander should unpack the installation program.
- After Stuffit is finished, double-click the installation program and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows Media Player 9.
- Once Windows Media Player 9 is installed, access the webcast test page and click on the "video" link. If the file successfully plays you are ready to view the webcast.
