Directors
The DCSIMS program is directed by Drs. Nathan Tintle and Gary De Young, full-time faculty in mathematics at Dordt.
Dr. Nathan Tintle, DCSIMS co-director
Since completing his Ph.D. in statistics in 2005, Dr. Tintle has been the primary mentor for more than 40 undergraduate students in extended summer and/or academic year research projects in statistics, with the bulk of these students conducting research in statistical genetics and biostatistics. Dr. Tintle is also active in the development of novel curricular materials and pedagogical strategies in undergraduate statistics education. Dr. Tintle has received numerous federal and private research grants, published numerous peer-reviewed research articles, received awards for his research and mentoring of undergraduate students, and currently serves as a committee member for the Section for Statistics Education of the American Statistical Association.
Dr. Gary De Young, Program Leader for DCSIMS, Department Chair
Dr. De Young completed his Ph.D. from University of Utah. At Dordt College he teaches introductory and advanced courses in mathematics, and he has special interests in mathematical modeling, particularly within the biological sciences. For more information visit his homepage.
