January 30, 2004

James Calvin Schaap's book, “Touches the Sky” has been nominated by Christianity Today editors for a book award. Schaap, an English professor at Dordt College, recently released the book that is one of only five under consideration in the fiction category. The annual award program is published in Christianity Today’s June issue.

A panel of judges will rank all entries in 10 categories over the next few months, selecting first place and possibly honorable mention in categories including apologetics/evangelism, Biblical studies, Christianity and culture, Christian living, the church/pastoral leadership, fiction, history/biography, missions/global affairs, spirituality and theology/ethics.

Last year Christianity Todayreceived 300 nominated titles from 46 well-known evangelical publishers, academic presses, and mainstream houses. The award criteria includes helping readers understand the people, events, and ideas that shape evangelical life, thought, and mission.

Copies of “Touches the Sky” are available at the Dordt College Bookstore (712-722-6420), True Vine in Sioux Center, or at and other web retailers.
