Dordt College Concert Band, Orchestra to perform

The annual winter concert by the Dordt College Concert Band and the Chamber Orchestra will be presented Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the B. J. Haan auditorium.

The orchestraís Carols for Christmas and the bandís A Fresh Aire Christmas will set the mood for the upcoming holiday, while other selections provide a variety of musical stylings. Chamber Orchestra

Under the direction of Dr. Henry Duitman, the concert band will begin the concert with Toccata by Girolamo Fescobaldi; Ginger Marmalade by Warren Benson; Chorale and Alleluia by Howard Hanson; Festal Scenes by Yasuhide Ito; and National Emblem by E. E. Bagley/ed. Fennell.

The chamber orchestra, also directed by Dr. Duitman, will perform Orchestral Suite No. 2 by Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring flutist Ruth Lynch, followed by Two Hymn-Tune Preludes by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and finishing their segment of the concert with Eventide.

The final numbers for the evening will be the concert bandís Overture in C by Charles Simon; Behold, a Rose is Blooming by Johannes Brahms; and A Fresh Aire Christmas by Mannheim Steamroller.
