Poultry specialist to speak here

November 19, 2003

“Holy Protein! A Christian Perspective on the Poultry Industry,” will be presented on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Dordt College. The talk will be presented in the Science Building lecture hall SB101, at 4 p.m.

The guest speaker for this event is Mike Lacy, Professor of Poultry Science and Department Head of the Poultry Science Department at the University of Georgia. Georgia is now the nation's leading poultry producing state, raising some 1.3 billion chickens per year.

Lacey has a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, and has been trained in broiler production and management, management of broilers in hot climates, and mechanical harvesting of broilers. He has an extensive publication record, as well as international presentations regarding the poultry industry. More importantly, he is a devout Christian who struggles at the intersection of his faith in Christ and the most economically rationalized animal industry.

This event is free and open to the public.

The agriculture department at Dordt College is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
