SIOUX CENTER, Iowa; January, 2001—Dordt College is initiating a spring convocation ceremony this year to acknowledge the beginning of the spring academic term. Special guest speaker, Nancy R. Pearcey, will give an address at the convocation on Tuesday, January 15, at 10:30 a.m. in Dordt’s B.J. Haan Auditorium.

“It is an honor to have such an outstanding speaker and Christian academic thinker inaugurate Dordt’s new spring convocation series,” says Dordt College President, Dr. Carl E. Zylstra. He says the purpose of spring convocations will be to highlight the academic nature of the Dordt College community, especially for students who graduate or transfer in during the semester break.

A nationally known leader in reformed, Christian philosophy, Pearcey co-authored the book How Now Shall We Live, along with Chuck Colson. She is currently a senior fellow with the Discovery Institute’s Center for the Renewal for Science and Culture in Seattle, and managing editor of the journal Origins and Design. For nearly nine years she was policy director of the Wilberforce Forum, and executive editor of Colson’s BreakPoint, a daily radio commentary program analyzing current issues from a Christian worldview perspective. She also co-authored with Colson a monthly column in Christianity Today.

Pearcey will conduct lectures and meet with students during her visit. The convocation address is open to the public free of charge.
