June 9, 2014

Dordt College students with a passion for leading praise and worship are serving this summer as part of the college’s traveling worship team, The New City. The musicians perform and worship in churches, camps, youth groups, and other community events.

“The New City is in its second year of the traveling worship ministry, and they provide a fresh sound to many familiar hymns and choruses as they minister to people of all ages,” said Campus Ministries Coordinator Jonathan De Groot. “With a veteran team and excellent musicianship, Dordt is honored to serve the broader community of Christ in this way.”

Students include Austin Herrema (leader, acoustic guitar, vocals) of Highland Ranch, Colorado; Marta Vander Top (piano, vocals) of Champlin, Minnesota; Chris Postma (drums) of Orange City, Iowa; Daryl Bruinsma (electric guitar) of Norco, California; Shelby Herrema (vocals, manager) of Highland Ranch, Colorado; Caleb Buum (bass guitar) of Rapid City, South Dakota; and Ben DeVries (sound technician) of Mitchell, South Dakota.
