Akers To Attend Dordt College

(Wednesday, May 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Ryan Akers, a graduate of Cypress Falls High School (Texas), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender football program.

Akers had 46 tackles with seven pass break-ups and two forced fumbles in 2013.  He was named his team’s best tackler.  Akers was named academic all-district and is a member of the honor roll.  Akers is listed as a 6-1, 170 pound safety.

Ryan is the son of Scott and Shanna Akers of Houston, Texas.  He plans to study electrical engineering.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
