Northwestern scored one run each in the second and third innings to lead 2-0 before Dordt struck for three runs in the fourth. Jon Holwerda walked and Aaron Parks reached on an error with one out in the inning and Dustin Brisel delivered a double that scored both runners. Moments later Nick Serrato singled and a throwing error allowed Brisel to score from second for a 3-2 lead.

Both teams went scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings with Dordt getting a runner thrown out at home plate in the fifth inning on an attempted double steal with runners at first and third.
