Dordt College alumna named Mrs. Iowa

Mrs. Iowa Kelli (Vink) Kruid, a Dordt College Class of 1999 alumna, was named Mrs. Iowa at the pageant held Sunday, June 22.

Kruid was a first-time pageant competitor according to a report in the Sioux City Journal. The Swisher, Iowa, resident was named Mrs. Johnson County before moving on to state competition Sunday.

Kruid’s platform is marriage and character education for youth. She and her husband, Tim, have been married for four years, and Kelli is employed as a physical therapist.

Kruid was also named the “Contestants’ Choice” in the competition, and won the evening gown and interview portions of the competition, as well as the Spa Dream Body Award. Mrs. Iowa will receive a 20-inch television, DVD player, jewelry, luggage set, $1,000 for a competition evening gown, her crown and banner and an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the Mrs. America pageant Sept. 5 to 19 in Honolulu.
