Dordt College hosts media summer camp for high school students

March 10, 2014

Be part of the first class of high school students in the Dordt College Media Camp, the newest summer camp on Dordt’s campus. This five-day camp explores broadcast journalism, communication, and digital media production. Open to high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in 2014, Dordt College Media Camp will be held June 16 to 20.

With access to broadcast equipment through KDCR radio and video production equipment used by the college, students will enjoy days packed with hands-on learning and fun, while developing a biblical and Christ-centered response to media and communication in contemporary society. Students will explore a variety of multimedia professions through interactive curriculum, simulation exercises, site visits, and skill-development workshops.

Based on information gathered through the application process, the camp experience will be tailored to match the needs and wants of students and help determine which specific areas of media they want to focus on. Options can range from sports journalism to interview skills and from radio programming to video production.

In addition to hands-on experience, students will stay in Dordt’s Covenant Hall resident rooms, eat meals in the dining hall, enjoy activities with new friends, and participate in a final project. The camp runs concurrently with the IDEAS summer camps, for high school students in the sciences.

The cost for the five-day, overnight camp is $195. For more information and to register, please visit Application deadline is May 1.
