Dordt Men's Basketball No. 1 Seed In Post-Season Tournament

(Saturday, February 22; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Dordt College will be the number one seed when the 2014 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Postseason Basketball Tournament begins on Wednesday, February 26.  The Defenders went 17-3 in the league to win the GPAC regular season championship and also secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Men’s Division II National Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri, which runs March 12-18 at Keeter Gymnasium/College of the Ozarks.  Morningside will be the two seed, Midland three, and Hastings the fourth seed.  The five-eight seeds are Nebraska Wesleyan, Dakota Wesleyan, Briar Cliff, and Northwestern respectively.

Dordt College will host Northwestern on Wednesday night, February 26 at 7:00 in the quarterfinal round with the Dordt-Northwestern winner advancing to the semifinal round on Saturday, March 1 against the Nebraska Wesleyan-Hastings winner.

The Defenders are 17-3 in the GPAC and finished the regular season with a 26-4 mark.

The semifinals are on Saturday, March 1, at the highest two remaining seeds.  GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, March 4.  The GPAC Postseason Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (Dordt) wins the postseason).
