Last time out…the Blades hosted the Creighton Jays in a pair of non-conference games last weekend with the Blades losing the Friday night game 5-3 before picking up the 7-5 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Blades took a 1-0 lead with 8:16 to play in the first period when Alex Ten Napel tallied his third goal of the season with an assist from Lucas Koomans. The Jays tied it up on a Connor Jurgensen marker exactly two minutes later. The Blades regained the lead and went up by two with goals just 34 seconds apart at 3:52 and 3:18 from David Prins (3rd) and Kevin Grootenboer (2nd). Creighton got within one with a goal coming with just four seconds left in the period from Matt Gotfryd to make it 3-2 going into the first intermission.
The Jays tied the game at 3-3 with 15:22 to play in the second period on a Blake DeJong goal. At 10:20 Dylan Bartels banged home his first goal of the season for the Blades to put Dordt back up 4-3. Nic Enerson scored his team leading 11th goal of the year, and the eventual game winner, at 16:40 in the third to give Dordt a two goal cushion. Ben Czarnecki tallied at 12:49 for the Jays to make it 6-5 and the scored stayed that way until the latter stages of the period. Like the Blades had had to do the night before, the Jays were force to pull their netminder Lee Noel late in the period to try to get the equalizer, but just like last night the strategy would prove unsuccessful as Dordt's Nic Enerson was able to score the empty netter with 33 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Blades.
The Huskers split a pair of close games with Missouri State last weekend, winning 5-4 on Friday night before losing 4-3 the next day.
