Leanna Bentz and Devin Veenstra perform a music recital

The community is invited to attend a joint music recital featuring Dordt College students Leanna Bentz and Devin Veenstra in the Dordt College B.J. Haan Auditorium on Saturday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the lobby.

Harpist Bentz of Platte, South Dakota, will perform works including Impromptu by Gabriel Fauré, The Eternal Harp by Dr. Carrol McLaughlin, and Beau Solr by Claude Debussy in a duet with Veenstra. Her mother Yvonne Bentz will join her on the flute for In Memoriam by Gary Schocker.

Bentz is a junior majoring in music education at Dordt College. She is the recipient of the Anne Heyns De Beer Music Scholarship, a three-year member of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and a Kuyper Scholar. Bentz studies harp with instructor Anna Vorhes.

Trombonist Veenstra of Pella, Iowa, will perform “the fun and flashy” Grand Concerto by Friedebald Grafe, selections by Claude Debussy, Lars-Erik Larsson, and Camille Saint-Saëns. He will be joined by piano accompanist Craig Disselkoen.

Veenstra is a senior majoring in music education with an emphasis in instrumental music. In 2013 Veenstra was a featured soloist on the Concert Band spring tour. Veenstra studies trombone with Vance Shoemaker.
