GPAC Women's Golf Wednesday

Meet… GPAC Women’s Golf Qualifying Event #2 will be held Wednesday, October 2 at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa.

Participants… All eleven Great Plains Athletic Conference members field women’s golf teams and will participate in the meet.
Last Time Out… Dordt College finished ninth at the two-day Palace City Classic Women's Golf Invite on Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28.

The Defenders had a 768 for the 36 holes and was led by Renae Visser's 173 for 14th place overall. Kim Brumfield shot a 183 on the two days and was 21st in the 41 player field. Meredith Fopma and Raeanne De Rousse completed the Dordt scoring with a 203 and 209 respectively.

Dakota Wesleyan won the event with a 641 and was paced by Lauren Fitts with a 157 for medalist honors.

Last Time On This Course… Dordt College finished fifth at the Briar Cliff Women's Golf Invite on Saturday, September 14, 2013 after carding a 372 on the par-70, 5,821 yards Whispering Creek Golf Course.

Renae Visser shot an 87 to place sixth overall and Kim Brumfield had a 92 for 17th in the 47 golfer field. Raeann De Rousse and Kristin Stoffels completed the Dordt scoring with a 95 and 98.

Northwestern won the event with a 343 and was paced by Taylor Malenke's 83 for medalist honors.

History… The Dordt College Defenders finished sixth in women's golf GPAC Qualifier #1 at Mitchell, South Dakota on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. The Defenders totaled 359 under nearly ideal conditions at Wild Oak Golf Club.

Dordt's Renae Visser totaled an 87 to lead the way and is 18th overall. Kim Brumfield shot an 89 for 22nd and Kristin Stoffels carded a 91 and is in 26th. Raeann De Rousse and Meredith Fopma had a 92 and 98 respectively in the 55 golfer field.

Dakota Wesleyan, led by Chelsea Burback and Lauren Fitts, is in first place with a 316. Burback and Fitts shot 75 and 78 respectively to place first and second overall on the par-72, 5,879 yard layout.

The Lineup… Dordt College’s Renae Visser has the low average through six rounds this fall with an 86.5.  Kim Brumfield is at 93.0 in six rounds and Raeann De Rousse and Kristin Stoffels are both below 100 as well with Stoffels at 96.8 and De Rousse is at 99.4.

After This… This will be the last event of the 2013 autumn season.  The Defenders will pick up play in March and April to conclude the year.
