Women's Golf Opens GPAC Event Tuesday

Meet… Dordt College will compete in GPAC Qualifier #1 hosted by Dakota Wesleyan at Wild Oak Golf Course in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Participants… All 11 Great Plains Athletic Conference members will have squads in the four event championship event.

Last Time Out… The Dordt College women's golf team shot a 385 on Friday, September 6 at Whispering Creek in Sioux City, Iowa at an Invite hosted by Morningside.

The Defenders finished in fifth place, four strokes out of fourth place on a day that saw temperatures in the 90s with winds out of the south at 10-20 mph.

Renae Visser recorded an 86 for fourth place overall and Kristin Stoffels had a 97 and was 30th in the 76 golfer field. Kim Brumfield and Raeanne DeRouse both had a 101 and Meredith Fopma shot a 112.

Morningside won the team race with a 359 and the Mustangs got medalist honors as well from Callie Anderson with an 83.

Last Time On This Course… Dordt College women's golf finished seventh in the eight team field at the Palace City Classic held Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22, 2012 in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Dordt had a two day total of 747, recording a 367 on Saturday to go with a 380 on Friday. Renae Visser finished 12th overall with a 174 and Reanne DeRouse carded a 174.

Dakota Wesleyan overcame a four stroke day one deficit to win the event with a 675 and Northwestern was second with a 691. Emma Wynja won the event with a 163--taking the honor by virtue of a tiebreaker with Emily Elliott of Iowa Central.

The course was set up for par-72 and was 6,249 in length.

GPAC Qualifier History… Dordt College was ninth in GPAC Qualifier #4 at Two Rivers Golf in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday, April 26, 2013. The round was the second of the day for the Defenders and saw Dordt improve by ten strokes over its third round performance.

The Defenders totaled 386 strokes and were led by Renae Visser's 92 and Kim Brumfield's 95. The two were 24th and 29th respectively and Brittany Clausen broke 100 as well with a 99 and she finished 40th.

Dakota Wesleyan won the round with a 327 and Morningside was second with a 345. Chelsea Burback and Jenna Winckler each had 80's to earn medalist honors for the round.

Renae Visser was the highest finisher for Dordt with a 17th place total of 370 in the event that featured two rounds in the fall and two in the spring.

The Lineup… Through two events this Fall the Defenders are led by Renae Visser’s 86 average while Kim Brumfield and Kristin Stoffels are at 99 and 97 respectively.

After This… The Defenders will compete in the Briar Cliff Invite on Saturday, September 14.
