Duo Named CoSIDA All-District

(Monday, June 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) Briana Vander Woude (Senior; Clara City, Minnesota) and Katie Bonnema (Junior; Ireton, Iowa) have been named CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America District honorees for track and field/cross country.
Vander Woude recently graduated after a career in which she won two NAIA National Championships in the multi-events and was an NAIA All-American nine different times. Top-eight finishers at the national championship meets are named All-Americans.
Bonnema won the 2013 NAIA Indoor National Championship in the 600 meters and placed 6th in the NAIA National Championship 400. She also competed for the 2012 Dordt College cross country team that qualified for the NAIA Championships in November and finished 74th in the national meet.
Both Vander Woude and Bonnema are Education majors and are now on the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
Both claimed All-American honors at the 2013 indoor and outdoor NAIA National Championship meets and were accorded NAIA-Scholar Athlete honors this season.
CoSIDA began the Academic All-America program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957 and currently is a 2,700-plus member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, communications and information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
