Drake Relays For Dordt Track This Weekend

The Competitors….Briana Vander Woude will compete in the heptathlon starting at noon on Wednesday. Dordt will also enter teams in the women’s and men’s 4 x 100 relay, the women’s distance medley, the women’s and men’s sprint medleys, the women’s 4 x 800 and the men’s and women’s 4 x 400.
Last Year… Day one recap:
Dordt College had three relays run at the Drake Relays on Friday, April 27. The men's 4 x 400 meter relay team made it through to the finals on Saturday while the men's 4 x 100 and women's 4 x 400 did not.
The men's 4 x 400 ran 3:15.46 with Alex Henderson, Aaron Floen, Joseph Lammers, Nic Pfeifle making up the quartet. The Defenders have the eighth fastest time in the prelims and won the fourth heat with UW-Eau Claire running a 3:12.63.
The men's 4 x 100 ran a :42.55 and was made up of Trevor Wolterstorff, Joe Lammers, Aaron Floen and Nic Pfeifle. The time was the 17th fastest out of prelims with Lincoln (Missouri) recording the fastest time of :40.59.
The women's 4 x 400 of Kari Van Beek, Crystal Vander Zee, Kaitlin Troost, Katie Bonnema had a 3:56.67 for 16th out of prelims. Wartburg (Iowa) was the fastest through the prelims in 3:40.51.
Day two recap:
The Dordt College men's sprint medley team finished third at the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 28 in Des Moines, Iowa and the women's 4 x 800 and men's 4 x 400 each ran eighth in their respective races.
The sprint medley team was made up of Aaron Floen, Trevor Wolterstorff, Nic Pfeifle and Ryan Tholen and the ran a 3:25.90 which was just off the first place time of 3:25.53 by Wayland Baptist.
The 4 x 800 women's team of Merissa Harkema, Katie Bonnema, Renee Buikema and Nichole Duncan ran a 9:26.84 for eighth with Wayland Baptist winning it in 9:03.45.
The 4 x 400 men ran in the finals and registered a time of 3:15.06 for eighth. Alex Henderson, Aaron Floen, Joseph Lammers and Nic Pfeifle made up the quartet. Wisconsin Eau Claire won the event with a 3:10.75.
Qualifying List…Briana Vander Woude has qualified for the NAIA National Meet in the High Jump and 100 hurdles. Katie Bonnema has reached the qualifying standard in the 400 meters.
Next…After this weekend the Defenders will compete in the GPAC Championships in Seward, Nebraska on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4.
