Dordt Softball Hosts Morningside

SCOUTING REPORT… Morningside is 16-9 this season and stand 5-1 in the GPAC. The Mustangs have won seven of their last eight games and had a seven game winning streak snapped by Concordia on April 14.
Taylor Daas leads the Mustangs with a .449 batting average to go with a team high 31 hits, six homeruns and 19 runs batted in. Machenzie Neely is batting .389 with five homeruns and 19 runs batted in and Shelby Feldt has a .375 batting average to go with eight stolen bases. Morningside is batting .327 as a team and has outscored opponents 140-85.
Emma Remy is 6-3 with a 1.67 earned run average and 32 strikeouts in 67 innings while Jordan Johnson has a 2.79 earned run average and she has struck out 54 batters and has pitched in 72 innings. Morningside has a team earned run average of 2.34 and teams are batting .257 against the Mustangs.
DEFENDER NOTES… Dordt is 6-21 this season and stand 2-8 in the GPAC. The Defenders have run into a tough stretch and are looking at snapping a six game losing skid.
Ashton Beaird bats .282 with 20 hits and 14 runs batted in with four homeruns and six doubles. All are team highs. Ashley Van Kooten is batting .244 with 19 hits, three homeruns and 14 runs batted in and has a team high 14 bases on balls. Brittany Kooiker bats .239 with four doubles, two homeruns and 11 runs batted in. Dordt is batting .197 as a team.
Sidney Larsen is 5-11 on the mound with a 4.79 earned run average and has thrown 114 innings and has 53 strikeouts.
THE SERIES… Dordt trails the series with the Mustangs 35-12 after sweeping the March 26, 2012 meetings. Dordt won game on 5-4 and then took game two by an 8-3 margin.
