Dordt Softball Travels To Orange City

GAMETIME… Dordt travels to Northwestern on Monday, April 8 for a conference softball doubleheader starting at 5:00.  The games were originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 9 but were moved due to the weather forecast.

SCOUTING REPORT… Northwestern is 4-2 in the GPAC and 14-15 overall.  The Raiders have won four of their last six games with the losses coming to Morningside by scores of 6-0 and 2-1.

Northwestern holds a 136-128 runs scored advantage and are batting .280 as a team.  The Raiders pitching staff has a 3.51 earned run average and Jillian Kleinhesselink is batting .357 this season with 26 runs scored, two homeruns, two triples and seven doubles with 13 runs batted in.  Lindsey Remien has a .326 batting average and has 14 runs batted in while Alex Price tops the team with 25 runs batted in and a homerun and 29 hits. 

Keely Bracelin is 6-9 on the mound with a 3.50 earned run average to go with 75 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched.  Katie Vande Voort is 7-6 with a 3.73 earned run average and has 44 strikeouts against 27 walks and she has pitched 86 innings.


DEFENDER NOTES… Dordt College is batting .209 this season and have scored 85 runs in 23 games.  Dordt’s pitching staff has a 6.47 earned run average and teams are batting .314 against the Defenders.

Ashton Beaird has a .297 batting average to go with four homeruns and 15 runs batted in.  Ashley Van Kooten is batting .261 and has 14 runs batted in and three homeruns. Haley Huisman and Bethany Dykstra both have three homeruns and Huisman has 10 runs batted in.

Sidney Larsen is 5-9 on the mound with a 4.60 earned run average and she has struck out 49 batters in 103 2/3 innings of work.  Brittany Kooiker has pitched 22 1/3 innings in nine appearances.

THE SERIES…Dordt trails the series with Northwestern 52-23.  Northwestern won the two games last season on April 10 by final scores of 8-2 and 5-0 in Sioux Center.

LAST OUTING…Dordt lost a pair to Hastings 8-1 and 5-1 on Saturday with Larsen and Kooiker each taking a decision.  The Defenders also got a solo homerun by Bethany Dykstra in game two and she delivered a run scoring single in the first game of the doubleheader.

Northwestern swept a pair from Concordia on the road 9-0 and 12-3 last Saturday for their most recent decisions.
