February 18, 2013

The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will present its annual Guest Concert on Saturday, February 23, with a performance by the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium on the campus of Dordt College.

Comprised of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra’s core of 40 full-time musicians, the Chamber Orchestra, led by resident conductor Ernest Richardson, performs a wide range of repertoire not otherwise included in the symphony’s regular schedule. Richardson, now in his 20th year with the Omaha Symphony, leads the successful Symphony Pops series as well as the symphony’s outreach and education programs. Don’t miss the tremendous opportunity to hear this exceptional ensemble in a live performance on our own stage.

Advance tickets are available at the following retailers: True Vine Bookstore in Sioux Center, The Dove Christian Bookstore in Orange City, Prairie Moon Books in Sheldon, and Something Special in Rock Valley. Tickets are also available at the door the night of the concert. For more information, contact the NISO office at 712-722-6230 or

NISO comprises the finest musicians in the tri-state area. Teaching principals are of a professional caliber and function as first chair players and teachers in sectional rehearsals. The orchestra membership includes adults of all ages as well as gifted music students from area high schools and colleges. Several high school students receive scholarships to continue their private lessons.

NISO/NISYO is made possible by the generous support of Dordt College, Sioux Center Recreation and Arts Council, the Friends of the Symphony, and individual patrons and business establishments.
