January 14, 2013

Dordt College is hosting its annual Day of Encouragement on Saturday, February 2, for elders, deacons, youth workers, pastors, church education leaders, worship committee members, and lay people in local congregations. This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Thor Swanson, will meditate on Psalm 137, sharing his struggles with juvenile diabetes and cancer to encourage listeners in their own lives.

He is co-medical director and HIV director at Siouxland Community Health Center and is the president-elect of the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City. Swanson is an ordained minister and assistant pastor at Friendship Community Christian Reformed Church in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

The day also features a variety of other relevant sessions for church members who serve in their congregations. Check out the list of sessions and the day’s schedule. The early bird registration deadline is January 18, and the final deadline is January 25.
