Women's Soccer Earns Team Ethics Award

For
the fifth consecutive season, the Dordt College women's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Ethics Award. The award is presented to teams based on the number of yellow cards received during the year. Teams that receive no yellow cards during the season are awarded a Gold Certificate, teams receiving 1 through 5 cards receive a Silver Certificate and teams receiving 6 to 10 cards are eligible for a Bronze Certificate, teams may not receive any red cards during the year to be eligible.
The Defender women received a Silver Certificate in 2008, a Bronze Certificate in 2009 and a Silver Certificate each of the last three seasons. Dordt College was one of only 8 teams in the NAIA (men or women) to receive a Team Ethics award at any level.
2012 NSCAA Team Ethics Award "By the numbers":
NCAA D I Women – 7 teams: 5 silver and 2 bronze
NCAA D II Women – 9 teams: 5 silver and 4 bronze
NCAA D III Women – 38 teams: 7 gold, 27 silver, and 4 bronze
NAIA Women – 8 teams: 6 silver and 2 bronze
NCCAA Women – 1 team: 1 silver
NJCAA Women – 4 teams: 3 silver and 1 bronze
NCAA D III Men – 6 teams: 1 silver and 5 bronze
Total number of awards: 73 teams: 7 gold - 48 silver - 18 bronze
