Dordt College celebrates Alumni Weekend Sept. 28 and 29

The annual Dordt College Alumni Weekend, September 28 and 29, celebrates the college, reunites former classmates, and promises fun for the whole family. Events during the week include sports, networking events, and a rip-roaring dueling piano show. Here is the schedule of weekend events:

Business Connections Breakfast. Friday, September 28, 6:45 a.m. in the Campus Center. Guest panelists – Jerry De Wit (’76), Barb Ahrenholz (’82), Dr. Mark Link (’82), Dr. Mick Vanden Bosch (’85), and Glenn Zevenbergen (’89) – will discuss “Healthcare in America” at this event, which is free to alumni.

Distinguished Alumni Banquet. Friday, 6 p.m. in the Campus Center. Gail (Stockmeier) Jansen (class of 1974), Dr. Mark Link (’82), and Katie Haan (’65) are the honored guests at the banquet. For tickets, please call or email Wes Fopma, alumni director, at (712) 722-6028 or

Business Club Golf Tournament. Saturday, September 29, 9 a.m. at the Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center. This shotgun start tournament is hosted by the Dordt College Business Club. Cost is $45 per golfer and includes a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., nine holes of golf, a cart, and many prizes. Register your team with Art Attema at (712) 722-6353 or

Kids Carnival. Saturday, noon on the tennis courts at Open Space Park.

Football vs. Briar Cliff University. Saturday, 1 p.m. at home.

Volleyball vs. Doane College. Saturday, 5 p.m. at home.

Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos Show. Saturday, 7:30 p.m. The piano duo Dave and Ted take the audience on an adventure, where the audience paves the way to a wild and zany performance. The show combines comedy, music, and a whole lot of improvisation. Tickets can be purchased for $10 each by calling or emailing the alumni office at (712) 722-6022 or
