Dordt Women's Golf At GPAC Qualifier Tuesday

Meet… Dordt College will compete in the GPAC Women’s Qualifier #1 at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City on Tuesday, September 11.  The meet gets underway at 10:00 Tuesday morning.

Participants… All 11 Great Plains Athletic Conference schools are scheduled to enter teams in the four event qualifier.

Last Year… Great Plains Athletic Conference Women's Golf Qualifier #1 was played Friday, September 16, 2011 at The Ridge in Sioux Center, Iowa. Morningside leads the four round event that spans the fall and spring seasons with a team total of 337, nipping Dakota Wesleyan with a 338 for the first round lead.

Dordt placed 11th with a 384 on a day where scores went higher than expected with temperatures in the 50's and winds were steady at 10-20 mph.

Dordt's Renae Visser and Micayla Weaver both shot 91s and tied for 25th in the 55 member field. Justean De Groot also broke 100 with a 99.

Dani Bellet, last year's GPAC Champion, had a 78 and has a three shot lead heading into the GPAC Qualifier #2 when it will be played in Hastings on October 8.

The Ridge played par-71 and was 5855 yards in length for the round.

Last Time Out… Dordt College shot a 400 as a team on Friday afternoon at the Morningside Women's Golf Invite at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa and placed 9th in the one day event.

Kim Brumfeld went low for the Defenders with a 93 and Brittany Clausen broke 100 with a 99. Rae Anne De Rouse also had a 98 golfing as an individual.

Green Valley was set up for par-72 and 6,278 yards.

GPAC Qualifer History…Dakota Wesleyan, coached by Adam Anderson, is the four-time defending women's golf champion in the GPAC.  However, the Tigers will have a new look this year as four-time GPAC Golfer-of-the-Year Dani Bellet graduated last spring after a standout career.  Bellet was also a three-time NAIA All-American and NAIA National-Runner Up as a junior in 2011.

The Lineup… Dordt College has six golfers who saw action last week.  Kim Brumfeld went low with a 93 while Raeanne De Rousse and Brittany Clausen broke 100 with a 98 and 99 respectively.

After This…Dakota Wesleyan will host a two-day event on Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22.  Dordt will also send a team to the Doane Invite on September 24 and 25.
