GPAC Football Poll Released

(Friday, August 3; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) held their thirteenth annual football media day on Thursday, August 2, at the Country Inn and Suites in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The day featured comments from all ten of the league's football coaches in preparation for the 2012 season.

The preseason coaches' poll is conducted at the end of the day.  Dordt College accumulated 12 points in the poll and is picked 10th in the program’s fifth year of varsity football.  Northwestern is preseason pick to win the GPAC championship.  The Red Raiders totaled 78 points and six (6) first place votes.  Defending champion Morningside was picked second with 76 points and the final four (4) first place votes.  Hastings was third with 53 votes.  Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Dordt College will open preseason camp on August 14 with the season opener on the road at Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa on Saturday, September 1 at 6:00.  The Defenders have their GPAC opener on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
