Draayer, Janssen recital April 4

Trisha Draayer, Sioux Center, and Brenda Janssen, Beamsville, Canada, will present a piano and vocal recital at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2003, in the B.J. Haan Auditorium at Dordt College, Sioux Center. Trisha Draayer

The daughter of Don and Joan Draayer, Trisha is a junior at Dordt College majoring in Music Performance and Pedagogy under the instruction of Dr. Susan Keith Gray. Draayer has won many awards, including Iowa Music Teacher Association competitions and winning the Genevieve Truran High School Piano Competition in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Her past performances include guest pianist with the Cherokee Symphony Orchestra, guest pianist at the Clara Schumann Drama Presentation, and solo pianist at the Fall Dordt College Instrumental Ensemble Concert in 2001. Draayer’s recital will include pieces by Chopin, Dubussy, Bach, and Haydn.

Brenda Janssen is the featured vocalist in the recital. The daughter of Harold and Janet Janssen, Brenda is also a junior at Dordt College. She will be performing selections from Mozart’s opera, “Cosi For Tutte” (translated “Women are Like That”) and a selection from a well-loved Broadway musical. Her vocal instructor is Deb Vogel and she is a voice scholarship recipient.

Other participants in the recital will be Marlys Grimm, accompanist, and vocalists Lindsay Cameron and Justin Vande Kerk.

The recital is open to the public. There is no cost to attend.
