Wolterstorff, Warner Honored By NAIA

(Wednesday, March 14; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Two Dordt College Defender men’s basketball players were included in the NAIA 2011-2012 Divisioin II Men’s Basketball All-American list released Wednesday, March 14.

Trevor Wolterstorff, a third-team pick in 2011, earned second-team NAIA All-American this season after averaging 14.9 points per game with 5.2 rebounds and he made 59 percent of his shots from the floor.  Wolterstorff ends his junior season sixth on the all-time scoring list at Dordt and he ranks 18th all-time in rebounds.  Wolterstorff was a repeat first-team all-Great Plains Athletic Conference pick this season.  He is a junior from Sioux Center, Iowa and he prepped at Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.

Cliff Warner was named an NAIA All-American honorable mention honoree one day after being accorded 2012 all-NAIA National Tournament Team honors.  Warner averaged 13.4 points per game with 4.2 assists per outing to go with 1.5 steals  and 2.9 rebounds.  He converted a school record 90 three-point baskets this season and made 47 percent of his three-point attempts.  After a season and a half with the Defenders Warner ranks 13th all-time in assists and 20th all-time in steals.  Warner is a junior from Altoona, Iowa and he went to high school at Pella Christian.

Dordt College concluded the 2011-2012 season with a school record 30 wins and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Basketball Tournament quarterfinals before bowing out with a 30-5 record.
