Dordt Has Two Named Scholar Athletes

(Monday, March 12; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Two members of the 2011-2012 Dordt College men’s basketball team were named Daktronics-NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes today in a release from the NAIA home office in Kansas City.

Trevor Wolterstorff (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) and Shawn Keizer (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) both claimed the honor for the first time.

Keizer is a biology major and appeared in all 35 games for the Defenders this year and averaged 3.7 points per game with 2.3 rebounds.  Wolterstorff is a psychology major and he led the Defenders with a 14.9 points per game average to go with 5.2 rebounds and 58.9 percent field goal shooting.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
