Parents, are you looking for a strong academic summer camp for your junior high or middle school students? Students, are you looking for extreme adventure this summer? Dordt Discovery Days (DDD) is your destination.

DDD is a five-day camp running from June 25 to 29, 2012, for students who have completed sixth, seventh, or eighth grade. With more than 40 classes in the arts, sciences, music, and recreation, there are options to fit every interest.

Classes include Lego Mania, Ooey-gooey Science, Theater Makeup Studio, Beginning Guitar, Photography, Cartooning, Engineering, CSI: Sioux Center, and Ink Slingers. In addition to their courses, students spend their days participating in group activities such as daily devotions, swimming, friendly competitions, and maybe even a “bigger and better” scavenger hunt through Sioux Center.

Last year, a record 237 students from 17 states attended. Many participants sat ready at the computer as the online registration site ticked down the seconds to midnight registration opening. Within the first 10 minutes, 110 people had signed up.

“Often the first people to register are the ones who have been here before because they had so much fun the last year and want to reconnect with students from the other schools and cities that they met on campus,” said Dianne De Wit, one of the co-organizers of DDD. “Many of the students stay in contact after camp, and some have even reconnected as students at Dordt years later.”

Residential, commuter, and day camper options are available. Registration opens March 24, at 12:00:01 a.m. sharp at Deadline to register is May 14, but registrations are first come, first served. Class sizes are limited and can fill very quickly. Contact Dianne De Wit at (712) 722-6029 with questions.
