Omaha Chamber Singers to perform at Dordt College

February 29, 2012

The Dordt College Music Department presents the Omaha Chamber Singers. This free concert of exceptional choral literature will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

What began as a 16-voice ensemble that was organized for a single concert in June of 1999, quickly evolved into an ongoing and highly respected ensemble of 16 to 24 singers. Today most of the singers in the Omaha Chamber Singers hold academic degrees in music and are currently employed as music educators and professionals in the larger metropolitan area.

David Batter is the founding conductor and is an instructor of music at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he teaches conducting and directs their choral ensemble. Batter is also the choir director at St. Columbkille Catholic Parish in Papillion, Nebraska, where he also served as director of music and liturgy.
