Dordt Volleyball Gains Alger
February 16, 2012
(Thursday,
February 16; Sioux Center, Iowa) Morgan Breann Alger, a senior at Ripon Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.
Alger averaged eight kills, three digs and two blocks per match last season and helped her team to three straight San Joaquin Section Championships and two Southern League first place finishes. She claimed all-area and all-conference honors in 2011 and was an honorable mention selection at the league level as a sophomore and junior. Alger is 6-0 and has played outside hitter and setter.
"We are very excited to have Morgan joining our program this fall. Her athleticism and height are a definite fit for our outside hitting position,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson. “She has grown up around the sport of volleyball and has played at a high level throughout the state of California. Morgan's experiences will be a great asset to our Defender volleyball program. Her high school coach, Tiger Shelton, has helped Morgan thrive on the volleyball court. Our goal is to continue progressing his work."
Morgan is the daughter of Brent and RaeAnn Alger of Oakdale, California. She plans to study nursing at Dordt College.
