Dordt College is hosting the biennial High School String Orchestra Festival on Thursday, February 16, at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Orchestras from Fort Dodge Senior High School, Unity Christian High School, and Western Christian High School will each perform individually and then combine with the Dordt College Chamber Orchestra in a mass orchestra with more than 100 string players.

The mass orchestra will perform “Entrance and March of the Guests” from Tannhauser by Wagner, “Mantras” by Meyer, “On the Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” by Holsinger, and “Funiculi-Funicula” by Denza.

In preparation for the evening’s concert, students will spend the day taking part in rehearsals and sectionals led by Dordt string faculty and participating high school orchestra directors.

Admission is free, and a freewill offering will be received.
