February 8, 2012

The Gaudete Brass Quintet is “an outstanding young group bringing fresh ideas to brass chamber music,” according to Raymond Mase, The Juilliard School American Brass Quintet Chair.

The group, from Chicago, Illinois, will share its music at Dordt College on Friday, February 10, at a 7:30 p.m. concert in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. The group will also be presenting a brass master class for Dordt College students in the afternoon.

Known for their devotion to presenting chamber music at the highest level of excellence, the Gaudete Brass Quintet has performed in many prominent concert venues including Merkin Hall in New York City, and has performed the National Anthem at MLB, NBA, and WNBA games. They have shared their musical talents with several colleges and universities including The Juilliard School, Vanderbilt University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Notre Dame.

The group’s first CD, released in 2006, was honored with the CDBaby Editor’s Choice distinction. The group was also nominated for the 2009 Just Plain Folks Best Classical Chamber Album.
