Mike Vanden Bosch to hold book signing for "Acquainted with the Light"

January 20, 2012

“I have been one acquainted with the light...played in sun or by moonlight day and night; watched stars and wondered at their hapless fall,” writes author Mike Vanden Bosch in his poem “Light.”
On Wednesday, February 15, Vanden Bosch will celebrate the wonder of God’s light and darkness with a book signing of his latest book of poetry, Acquainted with the Light.

This event, which begins at 6:15 p.m., will take place at Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. The community is also invited to join the congregation for an evening meal at 5:15 p.m.

Acquainted with the Light is a compilation of some of Vanden Bosch’s most cherished and heartbreaking memories. Each poem focuses on some of life’s greatest struggles as well as moments of hope and compassion. From news of World War II to recollections of hardworking farmers, Vanden Bosch describes the power of God’s grace as evidenced in his experiences.
Vanden Bosch, professor emeritus of English at Dordt College, is the author of several books. His poetry has been featured in journals including Briar Cliff Review, Lyrical Iowa, and Pro Rege. He currently resides in Sioux Center.

Copies of Acquainted with the Light, published by Dordt College Press, will be available for purchase on the night of the event. It is also available from the Dordt College Bookstore as well as from major online booksellers.
