Dordt and Northwestern share artwork in combined exhibit

December 16, 2011

Since 1999, Dordt and Northwestern students have been sharing the best artwork of the year in a combined exhibit. The exhibit is a way for the art and design faculty and students from the two schools to interact with each other, engage each other’s art, and discuss art analysis methods and media techniques. It is also a great opportunity for the college communities to view a wide variety of art from like-minded students who may have different approachs to the art-making process.

This year the exhibit is on display at Northwestern College in the Korver Visual Arts Center. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 15, 2012.

This exhibit is entirely screened and selected by students. Dordt art majors Kim Brinkerhoff, Ellie Dykstra, and Michelle Stam served as jurors and selected 20 of the best pieces in their estimation from Northwestern College for the display. Northwestern students Jordan Van Dyke, Rebecca Lokker, and Veronica Postma selected 20 works by Dordt students from a total of 60 to 70 pieces in a variety of media including printmaking, drawing, painting, photography, and ceramic work.
