Defender Men's Basketball Ranked Second

(Tuesday December 13; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Dordt College Defender men’s basketball team is ranked No.2 in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll released late Monday, December 12.

The Defenders moved up two spots in the poll after a pair of wins last week and improved to 14-0 this season with a win over Midland on Monday night, December 12 in Sioux Center.

Dordt accumulated 359 points in the voting done by 14 coaches representing the 14 conferences in NAIA Division II basketball.  The Defenders earned two first place votes on ballots with Northwood (Florida) taking the top spot with a 6-1 mark and 372 points.  The Defenders are one of two unbeaten teams in the nation at this point with Northwest (Washington) boasting an 11-0 record.

The Defenders have two games remaining before taking a break for Christmas.  Dordt will host No. 22 Morningside on Wednesday night, December 14 and travel to Briar Cliff on Saturday, December 17.  Briar Cliff is in the receiving votes category of the poll along with GPAC member Midland.  Northwestern, one of the two teams Dordt beat last week, is ranked No. 14 in the poll.
