Dordt Football Pair Earn Academic All-America Notice

December 6; Sioux Center, Iowa) Two Dordt College football players have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America College Division second-team.
Will McClain, a senior from Miller, South Dakota, earned the honor this season after recording 25 solo tackles with 22 assisted stops and
forced two fumbles. McClain has claimed NAIA Scholar-Athletes twice during his career. McClain is a Biology major and has a 3.97 grade point average.
Jon Luetchens, a junior from Murdock, Nebraska, earns the honor after intercepting a team high five passes with three fumble recoveries and he made 32 solo tackles and 21 assisted stops. Luetchens as an all-district pick in the process last year and earned All-GPAC honorable mention honors this season. Luetchens is majoring in Agriculture/Biotechnology and has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average.
McClain and Luetchens are the first Dordt College football players to earn this honor from the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). The Academic All-America program takes into account both scholastic performance and athletic performance.
CoSIDA began the Academic All-America program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
