Van Dyke Named Coach of the Year

(Thursday, November 10; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Dordt College cross country coach Greg Van Dyke has been named the 2011 Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Van Dyke coached the Defender men to a second place finish at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, November 5.  The Defenders earned a trip to the NAIA National Championship Meet on Saturday, November 19 with the performance and will be making their first team appearance at the event since 1980.

Van Dyke serves as both the Dordt College men's and women's cross country coach and took the reins of the program in 2006 after serving as an assistant in 2005.

Van Dyke coached an NAIA all-American in 2007, 2008 and 2010. He also serves as an assistant coach in track and field and graduated from Dordt College in 2002.  He ran both cross country and track while a student and is a Dordt College admissions counselor.
