Dr. Wolfgang Reisinger will hold organ master class at Dordt College

The Dordt College music department will sponsor an organ master class and workshop on Saturday morning, October 29, in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Dr. Wolfgang Reisinger, director of music for the Archdiocese of Vienna, will lead the event. Reisinger also heads the department of church music and is a teacher at the conservatory in Vienna.

The first hour, from 9 to 10 a.m., will consist of a master class in which Reisinger will coach student organists on musical and technical aspects of their playing, much like a public “private” lesson. In the second hour, from 10 to 11 a.m., Reisinger will demonstrate and coach appropriate means of improvising on hymns, a skill useful to church organists. Area organists as well as students are invited; the event is free and open to the public.
