Dordt College honors recital September 23

Dordt College music department is presenting an honors recital on Friday, September 23, at 3 p.m., in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A reception honoring the performers will follow in the lobby.

Performers in the honors recital have all received named music scholarships provided by Dordt College supporters. These scholarships were granted to freshmen who contributed significantly to their high school or community music program, and to upperclassmen who have contributed significantly to the Dordt College music program. Performers include soloists on piano, organ, instrumental, or voice.

Performers include freshman Leanna Bentz, Platte, S.D. (euphonium); Aaron French, Marshall, Minn. (piano); Sophie Jin, Suwon Gyunggi, South Korea (piano); Rachel Kooiman, Doon, Iowa (vocal); Ivory Niewenhuis, Corsica, S.D. (organ); sophomore Mandy Faber, Bothell, Wash. (organ); junior Mia Kornelis, Sioux Center, Iowa (vocal); and seniors Brian De Young, Sioux Center, Iowa (organ); Jason Friend, Zillah, Wash. (organ); Emily Hageman, Highlands Ranch, Colo. (vocal); Ward Matthias, Sumner, Iowa (organ); and Jonathan Posthuma, Brandon, Wisc. (piano).

Named scholarships from Dordt College supporters include Bloemendaal Organ Scholarship, John and Frances Bonnema Memorial Music Scholarship, Joe J. Dahm Memorial Music Scholarship, Minnie J. Dahm Organ Education Scholarship, Jack Grotenhuis Memorial Scholarship, John and Reona Reinsma Organ Scholarship, Ringerwole Organ Scholarship, Ringerwole Piano Scholarship, and Steensma Music Scholarship.
