Herman Cain to speak at Dordt College June 6

June 3, 2011

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain will visit Dordt College on Monday, June 6, as part of a Presidential Lecture Series hosted by The Family Leader. He will be speaking in Dordt’s Campus Center at 10 a.m. in an event that is free and open to the public. Cain will be available to the media in the Campus Center at 9:45 a.m.

Cain, winner of a recent GOP straw poll in Washington state, is the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and host of “The Herman Cain Show,” a radio talk show.

“Iowans play a vital role in hosting the first-in-the-nation presidential caucus,” said Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The Family Leader. The group’s lecture series gives Northwest Iowans a chance to meet and evaluate the candidates in person.

Dordt College is one of three Iowa venues for the series. Candidates will be making stops later in the day at Pella Christian High School and the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Dordt College is pleased to provide a venue for the series and has a history of hosting candidates for public office as a way to promote civic awareness and political engagement by Christians. The forums give Dordt students and the surrounding community an opportunity to participate in the events, meet the candidates, and learn more about the political process. .
